Faberge' Eggs - a Surprise package!
Fabergé
eggs, named after the goldsmith Peter Karl-Faberge, are ornate eggs
made in the style of genuine Easter eggs using precious metals and
gemstones.
In 1846, Peter Karl-Faberge, also known
as Karl Peter-Faberge, was born in a family of jewelers at St. Petersburg,
Russia. After his apprenticeship with the greatest jewelers of Europe,
he came to spot light when he received the gold medal for his jewelry
work at the Pan-Russian exhibition in 1882. Impressed by his superb
craftsmanship, in 1885, Tsar Alexander III ordered a jewelry to
be made by Faberge. It was supposed to be a present for his wife,
Empress Maria Feodorovna, for Easter. Faberge created the first
of the famous "Faberge Eggs" for the Tsar. The first egg
was made of gold and decorated with opaque white enamel . The egg
was full of secrets. It's two halves would open to reveal a gold
yolk, which would open to contain a golden hen with ruby eyes. The
hen's tail contained a hinge that would open it up to reveal a gold
and diamond replica of the imperial crown, and inside the crown
was a ruby pendant.
The Tsar and Empress were so awe struck
with the design that they ordered more of such eggs for every Easter.
Fabergé continued to include secret compartments in each of his
annual Easter gifts to the Tsar, and the tradition continues to
this day.
Although the Faberge' is famed for his
Imperial Easter eggs, he made many more objects ranging from silver
tableware to fine jewelry through his company. It is believed that
his company produced around 150,000 to 200,000 objects from 1882
until 1917. The October revolution in Russia made him and his family
to leave Russia and he died later at Switzerland in 1920.
In addition to the best craftsmanship,
"Surprise" was the hidden element in all Faberge' products.
His approach and idea has permeated every industry and every product.
Today, every product in this world is built to have a surprise factor.
It may or may not surprise you, but an attempt is always made.
How about your life? Do you package with
